A Sustainable Cascadia experiment to increase place-based learning activities, linking community organizations throughout the central Puget Sound with K-5 classrooms. Students record experiences with personal passports supporting Washington state's K-12 Integrated Environmental and Sustainability Learning Standards.

Concept and illustrations for a pictographic cookbook of recipes collected from women's groups in Tarija, Bolivia by Melissa Payne (Peace Corps Bolivia, 1993-95), designed to preserve and share rich local traditions without strict reliance on literacy. Images based on common local cookware and ingredients.
